EME 2040: Blog #7
Class Website
As a future teacher, I would 100% incorporate a class website. Technology is increasingly more and more ingrained into the classroom, and it is hard to deny students love for their technological devices. Students are already on their device so might as well provide help on the platform they are used to and support. I think it is very important to have a “hub” for all students go to for any and all information they need regarding the classroom. Assignment details, calendar, important announcements, and resources are the main things I would include. Overall, while not required, a website is taking it a step above to provide information to your students on a relatable level.
Professional Technology Use
Technology has crept its way into the professional world and has become a staple for many organizations, companies, and employers. As a future teacher, technology is something I will be using daily to keep my classroom running smoothly. Before I dive deep into my career, I would want to educate myself in the best way possible about being professional when it comes to using technology. Whether this is webinars, conferences, or courses. I would also want to continue to educate myself as technological changes and advances are made.
Web Evaluation
The web evaluation assignment really opened my eyes to how many sources that we all use that may not be credible. In order to have a credible source there are a lot of boxes you need to check off before trusting that information. But we were all raised in such a technology focused time-period that we all believe most things we read on the internet. It made me become more aware of the cites I am using for research and if I should really trust what they are saying or not. Overall, this assignment better prepared me for my own future research as well as guiding students through safe research.

  2. Mallory, I think that your blog post this week is great! I completely agree that I will absolutely create a teacher website when I am a full time teacher. I also really appreciate that you want to be as professional as possible when using technology as an educator. I think that is extremely important, especially when parents are viewing your online presence. And also, I think that your website evaluation form looks very thorough.

  3. Hi Mallory! I really like that you referred to a class website as a sort of "hub" for learning--I really like this term for it. While it does take a little extra effort on the teacher's end, I totally agree that it is worth it because it creates a space where students can easily access resources and information regarding the class!
